I found this picture in McKay Education Building at Slippery Rock University in Room 205. This bulletin board was posted around the Easter season and it was meant to help the students learn how to count. Students are to go through the whole picture and try to find all the missing eggs. I really liked this bulletin board because it was so unique. Tigger, Pooh, and Eeyore were all made out of towels. They were cut out of one color towel and then painted on with puffy paint. The eggs were difficult for young children to find but it was a good idea. The border for this was very interesting and must have taken a long time to create. Plastic Easter eggs were hot glued together and then placed around for the border. Whoever did this bulletin board took a lot of time and planning to make this look nice. Somethings that didn't match what we went over in class, was the color situation. In class we learned that only three colors were to be used, although this shows many more colors. I believe that this is alright due to the fact that it is still very professionally done and the students would have a great time interacting with it. Also, the colors aren't distracting in any way and they all match very well. Another situation I saw was the fact that the letters were in a wave fashion. This could be a little difficult for the students to read even though the pictures are large enough.

Reading Bulliten board

I took this picture at Slippery Rock Elementary School. It is a bulletin board about reading. I like the colors that were used on it. There are a few too many colors, but they all match each other well. The letters are a good size, but they are all capital instead of being mixed. Also, having them "bounce" around looks sloppier than if they would just be straight. I like the how the grass is cut to look more realistic. Around the edges, are small books that were colored by students and have each of their names on one. This is a nice idea, but it would be somewhat difficult to see from far away. The bulletin board is in a hallway, so the furthest away from it someone can be is about 8 feet, so the books are visible from there. The black letters are easy to see against the lighter background. I think, with just a few changes, this could be an excellent bulliten board.

Math Bulletin

I took a picture of the math bulletin board at a local elementary school in a second grade classroom. This bulletin board is on greater than or less than numbers. I think that there are both good things and things that might need improvement on this bulletin board. I think that the size and color of the title is very good. It also has a simple font to read which is also good. I also really like the border that draws the eye inward. One thing that needs to be fixed on this board is the size of the math problems that are written on the raindrops. The print is way to small and hard to see. The rain drops could also be a darker blue or different color to make them stand out from the background more. The directions for the bulletin board are also small and the answers for the math problems are written right on the board. I think I would try to keep the answers off the board of on a separate paper if I really wanted the students to complete this activity.

Bulletin Board

So I went and found a bulletin board. Even though this bulletin board is somewhat informative to my minor, it has many areas where it could be imporved. Instead of one basic idea being used, there are 3 programs that are being depicted. Also, there is information posted on the board that doesn't even fit the theme of the programs for the clients. The lettering on the board is too small and it isn't very easy to read. Although the bulletin board has good intentions, with a few small improvements to lettering, content, and color, the board could attract even more attention.
